Arnold Daniel Mathews JACKSON (1864-1936)

Arnold Daniel Mathews was born in Empingham in 1864 to Richard and Mary Ellen JACKSON. In the 1871 census Arnold was aged 6 and living with his parents at Empingham. By 1881 Arnold had gone to London to become a baker's assistant, living with Harry Jarman the baker at 88 Pimlico Rd, Chelsea. Arnold Daniel does not appear to be in the 1891 census.

Arnold Daniel married Amy SPENCER at Grantham, Lincolnshire in 1899. They had six children.

By 1901 Arnold and Amy were living with Amy's mother Eliza at Ingoldsby, Grantham. Amy and Eliza were working as dressmakers, Arnold was now a mason's labourer. By 1901 Arnold and Amy had moved to Barrow, near Oakham in Rutland where Arnold was now an ironstone miner.

Arnold Daniel Mathews JACKSON died in Sept quarter 1936 at Bourne, Lincolnshire. His wife Amy died a few weeks later in the December quarter 1936 in Bourne.

The children of Arnold and Amy JACKSON

Miriam JACKSON (1900-1973)

Miriam was born in Ingoldsby on 25 September 1900. She was recorded with the family in the 1901 and 1911 censuses. She married Harold Garfoot BRUDENELL in 1921 at Bourne, Lincolnshire. They had two daughters - Phyllis (1923) and Gwendoline (1924). In the 1939 register, Harold was a farmer at Copy Lawn Farm, Edenham. Copy Lawn Farm has an interesting history, as it was once the terminus for a branch railway built by the Edenham & Little Bytham Railway in 1857. The line was never a success and closed in 1884. Today the weighbridge still stands on the farm.

Miriam died at 53 Mill Drove, Bourne on 12 February 1973. Harold died at The Banks, Toft, Bourne on 6 March 1982. The couple were interred at the Baston Cemetery.

Their daughter Phyllis Doreen was born in Bourne on 12 February 1923. She and her sister Gwendoline appear to be in the 1939 register livng at Copy Lawn Farm. She married Marshall Henry DORR in 1947 in Bourne. They had one son. Phyllis died in Lincolnshire in 2004. Her husband Marshall appears to have died in Pretoria in 1968.

Gwendoline M. BRUDENELL was born in Bourne in 1924. She may have married Robin GS MALLONEY in Jun 1946 at Bourne and had three sons.

Bertha Ellen JACKSON (1901-1974)

Bertha was born on 6 December 1901 at Ingoldsby, Lincolnshire. In late 1923 she married Frederick FEETHAM. They had two children: Charles Frederick (24 April 1924-18 Oct 1982) and Eileen Gwenda (28 June 1927-20 Jan 1991)). In 1939 they were living at 5 Richard St, Dunstable. Frederick was a printer's compositor.

Bertha Ellen died in Leeds in 1974. Frederick died in Dunstable in 1982. Their son Charles Frederick married Kathleen Betty HUTCHINS in 1961. They had one daughter. Charles died 18 October 1982 at Dunstable. Kathleen (born 28 September 1928) died 10 Jan 2005 at Dunstable.

Their daughter Eileen Gwenda was born 28 Jun 1927 at Spalding. She married Gerarld Arthur Vermnon LEAF in 1951 at Luton. They had two daughters. Eileen died 20 Jan 1991 at Leeds. Her husband Gerald died 15 July 2019 at Leeds.

Richard Henry JACKSON (1903-1967)

Richard was born 20 August 1903 in Ingoldsby, Lincolnshire. He married Edith A. BUTTERS in Grantham in 1935. They did not have any children. In 1939 they were living at 14 Earl St, Lincoln. Richard was an excavator operator.

Richard died in 1967 and Edith died in 1979, both in Lincoln.

Edwin Arnold JACKSON (1904-1984)

Edwin was born in 1904 at Ingoldsby, Lincolnshire. By 1939 he was living at 58 Wood View, Bourne with his wife Dorothy and a Hilda Haywood. The only marriage that fits these dates is one to Dorothy M. HAYWARD in 1937 at Southwark, London. The next we know of Edwin is his death on 27 December 1984 at 58 Wood View, Bourne, the same address as in 1939.

Annie Elizabeth JACKSON (1908-1985)

Annie was born in Barrow, Rutland on 3 October 1908. Annie married Edward Victor DAVIES on 19 November 1938 at the Registry Office in Hackney, London. Edward had divorced his first wife Lilian Rose (MURPHY) in 1937. He had married her at All Saints Church, Islington London on 18 March 1928.

In 1939 Annie was living with her sister Miriam at Copy Lawn Farm in Edenham. Edward was living apart from Annie at Gosport, presumably in the dockyards. It appears that Annie divorced Edward DAVIES soon after the end of the war. She then married Arthur George Henry SOUNDY at the Registry Office, Westminster London on 10 June 1954. Arthur was a widower. Annie Elizabeth JACKSON/DAVIES/SOUNDY died on 27 October 1985 and was buried at the cemetery in Greenwich. Annie did not have any children.

Maurice Spencer JACKSON (1910-1993)

Maurice was born in Barrow, Rutland on 23 August 1910. He married Doreen JOHNSON in Spalding Lincolnshire in 1936. Doreen had been born in Spalding on 19 August 1917 to John JOHNSON and Maria (COOK). In 1939 they were living at 33 Gedney Rd, East Elloe, Lincolnshire. Maurce was working as a journeyman wheelwright and carpenter. Maurice JACKSON died in Boston, Lincolnshire in January 1993. Doreen died at 28 Granville St, Boston on 31 August 1994. They did not have any children.
