Introduction

Coronation Day for the United Kingdom. We arrived at the ferry terminal at North Shields around 0930, but the ship's crew could not tell us which deck to depart from until the ship had docked. Eventually it was Deck 5, so with all our luggage and another family with children, we hopped into the elevator to go down from Deck 6. The elevator stopped, out we hopped - on Deck 4. There is no stop on Deck 5! So we had to walk up rather than down a level. Next it took nearly an hour to make our way through UK Immigration and onto the transfer bus to Newcastle Central. Then a walk (downhill) to our hotel on Quayside. Paid £10 for an early check in (well worth the money) so we could watch the coronation of King Charles III. That done we walked along Quayside to the curved bridge for a drink.
