Cruising the Danube from the Black Sea to the North Sea
April-May 2023: Day 23

Bamberg, Germany

Introduction

We arrived in Bamberg overnight and moored in an industrial area of the port. The city is a UNESCO heritage site, a Medieval city largely untouched by war (either because of the piety of the locals or the absence of any useful military target in the town). We walked around the old city, the cathedral, and the remains of the castle. Our guide was May, a student teacher. We had wonderful views over the rooftops. After May finished her tour we explored some of the city on our own, stopping for coffee and ice cream then walking back to the Concert Hall for coaches back to our ship.
