The carriages were followed by lots of poor, ragged, famished looking children, some begging piteously for coppers, and others even in the poverty and rags fun loving young elves who succeeded in extracting the pence out of the Trippers pockets. We saw but little of the Lakes, just enough to show us how beautiful they were. We spent Sunday at Killarney, on that day, the poor people of the district, crowded the streets and churches. They were a very picturesque looking lot; many of them distressing to look upon, We returned home having enlarged instructions, knowledge of the beauty of the country and deplorable condition of the people.
