Henry Arnold GOODLIFFE

Henry Arnold was the third son of Thomas and Elizabeth Goodliffe. He was born at Lambley Lodge, Belton on 25 March 1837.

Henry Arnold married Elizabeth LAWSON in Nottingham in late 1860. He became a grocer in Nottingham, as did several of his uncles and cousins. Henry and Elizabeth had 7 children:

In the 1871 census, Henry is living at Manvers St, Sneinton, Nottingham with Elizabeth (33), John F. (9), Annie (7), Albert H. (4), Elizabeth (9 months).

In 1881, Henry and family occupied 33 & 35 Manvers St, Nottingham. Daughter Annie was a music teacher aged 17, and they had 3 more children Edward (8), Emily (5), and Florence (2).

In 1891 the family has moved to 121 Sneinton Rd, with all children except John Frederick still at home. Emily was working as a drug store cashier.

In 1901, Henry had been widowed (Elizabeth died in Jun quater 1892) and was living at 52 Sneinton Dale, with children Annie (37, Music Teacher), Emily (25, Clerk at Chemist) and Florence (22, Clerk at Chemist). Daughter Elizabeth was a teacher and was boarding at Kettering. Son Edward (28) was also a drug company clerk. He had married Clara HUNT and was living with her parents at 13 Constance St. 

In 1911 Henry was still at 52 Sneinton Dale, with daughters Annie (47), Emily (35) and Florence (32). Elizabeth was still teaching, and was boarding at Kettering.

Henry died 21 November 1921. His death was registered at Kettering in Rutland.
