carriages was I sight, I had never seen either before or since. The
mournful cortege wended their way to Hucknall. His remains were
deposited in a vault, a very unpretentious monument, was erected.
Visitors from all parts of the world, came to inspect the last resting
place of the gifted poet. For a short time bobbin lace, and bobbin
making were very flourishing in Nottingham. Everyone who had a little
money was rushing into it. I was asked to try to learn to work a
machine. I had not enough enterprise, the good trade did not last long,
so perhaps I lost nothing by sticking to the dirty provision business.
In 1824 I entered heartily into the work of Sunday School teaching at
Stoney Street Chapel School, where for some years a capital school had
existed.
