churches, and he received a call to the old church at Kirton Linsey about the year 1840 where he remained a few years, and then removed to Chesterfield and afterwards to Rothley where and at Sileby for several years he was the minister of those village churches with fairly general acceptance. He was a descendant of an old puritan stock and firm in teaching the old theology. With all his failings, I can bear testimony to his thorough truthfulness and uprightness of character and considering the severe discipline, through which he had to pass, provocative of that which tended to want of geniality and good nature.
