After my father’s death she left the Lodge and went to live at a little
house in her native village Barrowden, when with my youngest sister Sarah
for several years she was very useful, often writing kind, thoughtful and
earnest letters to her children and friends taking also a deep interest in
and according to her means and strength aiding the struggling Church at
Barrowden, often finding a home for the minister and students when
supplying, several of whom have to the present day, expressed to me the
pleasant recollections of her kindness and thoughtful care of them.
She devoted for some years much of her time in visiting the sick, the poor,
and members generally, seeking the promotion of the spirituality of the
members and the Church, exhorting her neighbours to become earnest
Christians. |
