The Park Estate, Nottingham

Home of William Froggatt, Arnold Goodliffe and related families in the 1860s-1890s

The Park Estate is a housing area to the west of the Castle in Nottingham. It's origin can be traced back to 1068 when William the Conquerer ordered a castle to be built and the adjacent woodland to be enclosed for a royal hunting ground. The first building in the Park area was St Marys Vicarage, built in 1809 and by 1834 over 50 large villas had been erected. By 1887, soon after Wiliam Froggatt died, nearly 400 houses had been built.

More information about The Park Estate can be found on the website at www.theparkestate.com.

William Froggatt apparently resided at 8 Lenton Road, a property on the corner of Lenton Rd and Hollies Ave. Further along Lenton Road, possibly number 29 or 31, lived Arnold Goodliffe and family, whose daughter Sarah was to marry William Froggatt (jnr) in 1867.
