Europe 14 - Day 27IntroductionThe Globus Tour - Florence (again!)One of the downsides to a packaged tour is the fixed itinerary that they offer. To get to see all the other places on the tour we had to accept that we would go back to Florence for a day. But there were advantages. In particular we were able to get into the Galleria dell'Accademia to see the original of Michelangelo's Statue of David. Unfortunately, photography is banned in the Galleria, so we do not have a photographic record of the visit (although this ban did not stop a lot of people using their phones to photograph everything in sight, especially themselves). After the Galleria we were set free to wander around Florence. We went back to the Ponte Vecchio, the leather markets near the Piazza Repubblica and then found the best gelato shop in Florence - Vivoli. A little later we stopped for lunch at one of the cafes that borders the Piazza Santa Croce and then it was time to meet up with the tour group again and return to the coach. We made a brief stop at the Piazzale Michelangelo for that wonderful view over Florence and then the longish trip back to Montecatini for the night.
