Guy Fawkes

As with most tourist towns, anything that might attract the tourists is commemorated, signposted or has a plaque. York claims its fair share of famous people, and trades on the early life of Guy Fawkes.

The Church of St Michael-Le-Belfrey, across the road from York Minster, where Guy Fawkes was baptized. The plaque is on the lower right wall, below the window.	The plaque commemorating Guy Fawkes' baptism, on 16th April 1570.
here lived Guy Fawkes....	and you can stay in a hotel near his house.

Other People

Other famous people I noted were Sir Thomas Herbert, Joseph Rowntree (of toffee and sweets company fame) and Silvanus Thompson, Physicist. I am sure there are many more.
